| Teens Shot Pedestrians in Westfield with Airsoft Gun, Cops SayCredits: Jackie Lieberman  Credits: Jackie LiebermanBy JACKIE LIEBERMANJanuary 12, 2016 at 3:56 PMWESTFIELD, NJ — New details have emerged in the recent arrests of two teens who were charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle. The arrests took place at 9:42 p.m. on Dec. 30 pursuant to an investigation on the 100 block of St. Paul Street during a motor vehicle stop, according to police records.Westfield police now say that Edward Bergin, age 18, of Garwood, and a 17-year-old boy from Clark took a car that did not belong to them in Clark and drove it to downtown Westfield, where they shot at pedestrians with an Airsoft gun that shoots plastic pellets. Three juvenile males were struck and one boy was visibly but not seriously injured, police said.According to police records, Bergin was transported and committed to Union County jail as a result of being unable to post full bail amount of $50,000. The other boy was mandated to be sent to Union County juvenile detention center.
